Mercy is wearing a OOAK shawl, made for any Gossamer Girl.  It can also fit American Girl dolls.  The shawl is made of laceweight Malabrigo yarn in pearl, and has a lovely depth to it that is difficult to photograph.  It measures 13 inches by 8.5 inches.

It can be worn either as a kerchief or as a shawl and either way will keep your Gossamer Girl warm on her adventures.

Rune

Rune steps softly on bare feet, ducking her antlers beneath hanging cobwebs. In the freedom of solitude, she finds what she needs here.  Sometimes, solitude is nothing but a blessing. In the emptiness left by humanity, strange creatures return to this city. And I can dream of their scarred faces or twisting horns.

This is Rune, my wild girl.  I splurged on Malabrigo yarn for her, and it was so worth it.  I do miss working with that stuff regularly.  But I worry that if I do, my dolls will eventually succumb to moths.  Acrylic does have its advantages.

Rune is to serve as a model and spokesdoll for the Gossamer Girl series.  I shall make one more model and then focus on clothing and other items for them.  I did not originally intend to make her the eyepatch, but once I thought of it, I could not resist.  Horned does do happen in nature from time to time, so she is plausible.  Perhaps she likes other girl dolls as well.  I have no idea how she came to lose her eye.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Working, working

Well, I've got a homemade pizza in the oven.  I hope it comes out well.  I'm trying to figure out new ways of promoting my new Gossamer Girl series.  Perhaps I really will join the Denver Handmade Alliance.  I have resisted because I'm not sure how well I fit in with hipsters, but, frankly, any port in a storm.  And they are probably closer than a lot of other groups.  I am really not certain I fit in with the art doll community.

Right now, I'm working on a laceweight dolly shawl of pearl Malabrigo.  It is fairly relaxing and it is letting me unwind a bit.  Developing the Gossamer Girls was rather intense.  And I imagine making the first one will be too.  If someone ever orders one. 

Next, I think I will make the last model Gossamer Girl.  I will finally embody my character named Theda, who is a lovely gothic girl who died at thirteen.  I attempted to embody her in BJDs a couple of times, but the expense of the clothes and the difficulty of finding a doll that exactly fit has deterred me.  But I can make a doll that is exactly what I want.  And one of the beauties of the Gossamer Girl line is that they can wear American Girl clothes.  Clothing for American Girls is both plentiful and quite inexpensive.

I wonder if I should message some of the people who make American Girl clothing that I like on Etsy and propose a partnership.  Or at least mutual linking.  To do that, I would have to overcome my shyness...  But it might be helpful.

Also I need to talk to Ellis Ann at Thread about my new series and see if she would like to feature it in any way.

Silver

This is Silver, another prototype for the Gossamer Girls.  He is somewhat inspired by the novel The Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee.  I don't normally do fan art type pieces, but I really loved that book.  And he was another experiment in the Gossamer Girl type, of which I had already done several so I figured I ought to have some fun.

Silver now lives in Austin, Texas with my sister.  She took these photographs for me.  Austin looks so much warmer than Denver, right now. I'm kind of jealous.  But I won't be, come summer.

In The Silver Metal Lover, Silver is a robot musician, designed to make people happy in any way possible.  Robots are kind of like dolls 2.0 so I am very interested in them.  And, frankly, while The Silver Metal Lover is a teen romance, the main character has actual agency and she actually gets things out of her relationship with Silver.  Unlike, say, Twilight. And Jane actually has a personality. And they have sex without terrible consequences, because Tanith Lee is not a mormon.

Silver is 18 inches tall, like all the Gossamer Girls and can wear American Girl clothes.  He is delightfully cuddly and durable.  As always, his features are embroidered and his hair is rooted.
