So, the show is over now. My work looked great, hung in frames as it was. I have no idea if people liked it at all however. I did get the long, pigtailed wig of doom finished and people seemed to like it. Strangely some people seemed to think it was my real hair. I do think I'll make another wig in black and green, only much shorter so it is more practical. It did keep me warm on that cold night at least.
I really made the wig so that people had a chance of connecting the work I had on the wall to me as I walked around. They were both made of yarn, you see. And it actually worked. This woman in a corset and tulle bustle recognized me and liked my work! That did feel good.
I did not stay for too much of the entertainment, since my issues with crowds started acting up pretty severely once things moved inside. So I missed some stuff that looked really cool, but I probably would not have really seen it anyway since I'm shorter than most people. But what I saw was a lot of fun. I hope if they have it again they put it in a larger venue so I can participate more comfortably.
Now I have to think about what to do next. I do prefer doing these more art type shows, as opposed to craft based things. I can be more creative with them. I do still have a dream of doing a solo, installation show at a gallery, but that is probably still years away. I have no idea how to go about setting that up, even assuming I could with my weird medium. I am fortunate to have my partner and friends who are fiercly supportive of me. I do need to get my partner to take my smaller stuff over to Tomte Modern Craft. I have talked to them about selling there and they are in favour of it.
Since money is short for me right now, I suppose I will be looking to do another craft show. I need one of moderate size so I don't have to fill too much space. Preferably one that is not a scam like the Doll and Miniature Museum one was. If anyone has any ideas, I would be most grateful for suggestions. I'm feeling a little frustrated with my art career right now.
